In the first classes this term, my focus was trying to find what I wanted to work with ( oil paint or water colors to photography), but I started with oil painting to playing around with some colors on an old canvas. I realized with oil painting, its hard to relay patterns and brush strokes from what I what I am picturing in my head.
The next day I worked with water color using different types of paper. I

tried to paint some of the ceramic projects but they didn't come out as well. However I learned that unlike oil painting, I am better with water color when it comes to creating an image that I see in my head. At the end of the day I realized that I wanted to go back to oil painting.
Back to oil, I started on a new canvas and began painting a pattern and

then saw a skull and began painting it. When I was done with this painting I realized that with oil painting, still like is the way to go for me.
Right now I am testing on the first practice oil painting putting different layers of gesso on it to see how much of teh original colors and objects are

still visible when light is hitting it.
This is the idea I will be using for the large red canvas. However that was painted with house paint, nto oil paint. This means that if i paint an image over it, and then cover it in gesso, the light may not come through as I would like to. I will be experimenting with this for the next week and when we come back from vacation.
